Ahmed has over 15 years of field, planning, operations, design, project management, training, DERs, EE, DR, EVs, VVO, AMI, DMS/ADMS, DERMs, load relief/ forecast, emergency response, best practice/benchmarking, risk management & climate change studies experience in generation, transmission, substations and distribution systems at Con Edison, PSE&G, PEPCO & First Energy.
Ahmed manages the:
• PSE&G Distribution/ 69 kV Transmission System
• Substation life cycle
• Electric load forecast (developed own method)/T&D Load relief program
• 26 to 69 kV conversion program
• T&D outage planning group/load flow/short circuit studies
• DER grid studies/interconnections (developed substation & circuit limits)
Ahmed is the technical lead/adviser for: energy storage/Solar/VVO/DMS/ADMS/Smart Grid/DERs/Microgrid/EVs/Clean Energy Future/AMI/SGIP/SEPA/Georgia Tech NEETRAC.
Ahmed is an adjunct professor/ senior showcase judge/Industrial Action Board member @ NJIT. Ahmed is on the NJ Association of Energy Engineers board promoting energy efficient technologies, economic growth, resiliency, smart buildings, micro-grids, DERs, energy storage, fuel cell, wind, solar & VVO. Ahmed is the founder/CEO of the Electric Bridge Consulting firm. Ahmed is the author of three books & several PE professional engineering online courses.
Ahmed was Con Edison’s substation planning manager responsible for the 5/10/20/30 year sub-transmission and distribution load relief plan. Ahmed also worked at the Energy Control Center. Ahmed was the project manager for a SCADA EMS project & President Obama’s D.O.E's stimulus grant.
Ahmed is the recipient of the “ALVA Award for 21st Century Leader” & other awards.
