Global Head of CyberSecurity Architecture & Engineering
John Murphy is Managing Director for the Bank of New York Mellon where he is responsible for Cybersecurity Architecture and Engineering, helping to manage the intelligence driven security defense of the bank’s infrastructure, corporate data and sensitive customer information. This role involves planning of security solutions, evaluation of security technologies and defining cyber security requirements for applications and platforms.
Prior to joining the Bank of New York Mellon, John was responsible for Cybersecurity Engineering at Deutsche Bank where he was focused on delivering commercial and custom cybersecurity solutions for this Global Investment Bank. This role included delivery of solutions that addressed key regulatory concerns about risk from trusted insider threats as regional head of Cybersecurity for the Americas.
At Automatic Data Processing, John was responsible for Architecture and Engineering for Telecommunications/Client Services where he was focused on strengthening and deepening customer relationships through technology integration across all client interaction channels and business lines to provide customers with a consistent client experience.
Throughout his career, John has held various roles in the Software Development, Software Testing and Systems Engineering functions. He has authored articles on technology investment, decision making frameworks within large enterprises and the need to increase IT credibility through value-driven delivery. His research interests are focused on the need for increased IT Management education across all areas of business education as a basis for improving Management decision making.
John holds a BS in Computer Science, an M.S. in Information Systems Management and a Ph.D. in Technology Management from Stevens Institute of Technology
